A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman

5.0

Ove is a cantankerous old man. He spends his time making sure every person & thing complies with the residential area rules. He thinks everyone these days is useless, especially the other residents in the neighbourhood, and he is ready to give up on it all.
Then a new loud and meddlesome family move into the neighbourhood and Ove finds himself in an unexpected (and not entirely wanted) friendship. Oh and then of course there is the Cat.

I absolutely adored this book but I’d did take a little while to warm to it. At first Ove’s grumpy old man persona was infuriating and almost unbearable. However, as Ove’s heart slowly begins to melt and allow for others to enter into his world, slowly you begin to love him too.

The characters are beautifully written and I can clearly imagine them all. The story is entirely frustrating, heartwarming, heartbreaking, hilarious, and utterly moving.

A truely perfect tale of what it is to truely love in all facets of life.
