January, who never quite feels like she belongs, discovers a book about doors to other worlds, and a couple that fell in love across the universe.

This was cute! Fairly predictable, and the second book I’ve read just this year about magic doors that transport you to fantastical, new, or dangerous worlds—but I enjoyed it! Not my favorite book though, and not one I’d want to read again (although I sped through this one in two days, and genuinely loved reading it).

Honestly, I found the love story between Ade and Yule the real draw of the book, and if it was just them, I could see this being a favorite book. Although I didn’t dislike January, I really didn’t have strong feelings for her either way. I would have preferred to just have the story be about Ade and Yule, but that would have had much less plot without January’s involvement, so I guess this was fine. Fanciful and adventurous, this is a great little fantasy read.
