This is the third book in the series and it didn't capture my attention as much as the previous books. While they also had unbelievable storylines, there was something intriguing and captivating about them that made me keep reading. In this book, however, I felt that it lacked the same level of intrigue and the shred of plausibility that the previous books had was lost in this third installment.
What then keeps me reading this series? I'm not even sure I know myself. There is this constant need to know what antics Finlay and her live-in nanny/bestie will find themselves in, which is what kept me engaged in the series. But in this book, the story didn't pull me in as much and I feel like the overall plotline is being drawn out way too much.
Steven, Finlay's ex-husband, remains a total jerk, and I find myself questioning why she still looks out for him, especially considering how he treats her. On a positive note, I was glad to see the romance between Finlay and the police officer Nick finally progressing, as that storyline has been quite frustrating.
The book is still an easy read, fast-paced, and light-hearted, with some humour, although not as much as I expected. The author seems to have a lighthearted approach, and now I'm torn between continuing with the series, drawn in by that something that keeps me coming back, or giving up while the story is still bearable.
