This book stuck with me. We see the wasting process as Brian returns to his hometown from New York to Ohio because now that she has seen all his friends die, Brain will die himself of AIDS. And the path it is taking him is not in madness or skin lesions but waiting away day by day. Barely a soul wants in this backwoods town wants him in the town. Brian can't even be sure much of his family wants him there but his mammaw and Sadie- the dog aged 6 years since he last saw her.

This is a raw emotional book where I was listened to and got caught up on my runs. And continued with the text as did mindless house stuff just to continue to listen to it. I just felt like I was emersed in the time period where AIDS truly was the worst thing one could be diagnosed thing with. I felt for all the characters (maybe except rt for Travis even though what he does in the end). Where it was the gay disease and god was the only thing that matter even if it meant exclusion. It is beautiful, sad, and was a great listen.
