Walk off wedding
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Not horrible, not great. It started off cute with the online chat room banter. But once the story moved to present day, I lost interest. I understand this was a Cinderella trope. And unfortunately, I have yet to find a Cinderella retelling I like. This book has given me more insight into to possibly why that is. I think it has to do with the FMC (Addie)being a pushover. No agency. Letting shitty things happen without taking things in to her own hands. And honestly - if Grant hadn’t connected that she was ArtGirl from the online forum - I can’t see how this connection would have worked at all. Because in real life she was so meek and - damsel-y. And yes - Grant was a protective sweet and supportive hero. But I didn’t really understand what about her in the present day kept him interested in her.
While this was an OK read, it’s just one more Cinderella story I didn’t vibe with.
