Swift's work is always a treat. Satire at it's best- I was both deeply uncomfortable while laugh-crying my way through it.

Frankly given our love of the flesh and secretions of almost every other earthly being we can get our hands on (including the poisonous ones) why not start devouring our own young? I couldn't help reflecting on Orwell's Animal Farm where the swine come to stand on two legs, conquering their fellows. In that vein Lord of the Flies comes to mind as well. Why wasn't this, A Modest Proposal also part of primary curriculum?
