The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
5.0
“When one is in love, one always begins by deceiving one's self, and one always ends by deceiving others. That is what the world calls a romance.”
I truly adored reading this book. It starts off with such innocence, and quickly becomes spoiled and rotten and you wonder how it all happend so suddenly.
Dorian is a complex character who has been robbed of finding himself, and becoming his own person. The characters in this story were incredibly real, and the passion they had for eachother was fascinating to read.
It’s ironic to me how Lord Henry had the most beautiful quotes and philosophical takes (they were my favourite) but how terrible of an influence his words had to those around him.
What a devastating book, I enjoyed every second of it.
