Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman

5.0

It was such a treat to read this amazing book which revolved around the eccentric and hilarious character, Eleanor, whose life was not all that it seemed to be. Eleanor is as an oddball who questions even the simplest of things. Her sense of humour was so on point and had me in splits. Honeyman has done a wonderful job of building Eleanor’s character and maintaining it throughout the book.

Eleanor has been living alone since she was eighteen, in the same house. She wears the same clothes to work, and the closest friend she has is her weekend drink—vodka. She wasn’t expecting someone to befriend her, that was probably the last thought in her mind. But a kind colleague, Raymond, shows her what kindness can do, and in Eleanor’s case, shatter the walls built since childhood. A terrible event had taken place in Eleanor’s life and she refused to even think about it, but after a meltdown, Raymond helps her piece her life together.

Truth be told, I couldn’t find even a single shortcoming in this book; for me, it came full circle. This book will shatter your heart in a million pieces, make you sob, but it will piece it back together, too. Do yourself a massive favour and read this gem.
