Sia Martinez and the Moonlit Beginning of Everything by Raquel Vasquez Gilliland

2.0

This was so disappointing and my rating went from a 4.5 down to a 2 between the middle 50% to the end. It starts off strong - the author does an absolutely wonderful job weaving her Mexican culture in with a pretty cute but emotionally charged narrative of a high school girl, dealing with normal high school girl things but also addressing the issues of racism and bigotry and how it affects Mexican Americans.
Then it goes completely off the rails and becomes about
Spoileraliens, alien experiments, goverment consipiracies, etc
and ... becomes a hot mess. And by the end, I really did not care what happened to any of the characters. Really disappointing
