The Assassin's Blade by Sarah J. Maas
5.0
Ah yes, just the emotional beatdown I was looking for.
I put off reading this because I just KNEW I'd end up crying. I have read through the ToG series twice now without reading it... I really shouldn't have waited. It was so good and each story added so much context to Calaena's character as we meet her in ToG, and makes the growth that comes later in the series so much more impactful. It was fun to have all of her little adventures that get briefly mentioned later fleshed out and actualized. SJM is the master of intelligently piecing together a world and a story from beginning to end, and these novellas are a testiment to her ability to weave a million little strings into a masterpiece.
Anyways, now onto ToG reread #3 lol.
