Stone Cold Heart by Lisa Hughey

Very short story. There are a number of typos - mainly missing words rather than heinous grammar.

Pros - strong female lead, interesting storyline.

Cons - romance prioritised over plot, the key act was recounted almost by way of epilogue. Odd "English" references - there was a simile about as hard and fast as a Charing Cross train . This is not a comparison I have heard or used and for years I took trains to and from Charing Cross! I struggled with understanding why Jess had to prove herself to her family, given she was an FBI agent or how her brother would send her on a potential assassination assignment when she left the FBI because she didn't want to have to kill on demand.

I will definitely read more.
