the final poem in the end chapter brought me to tears, it perfectly encapsulates her journey as an author and makes me emotional as someone who’s been reading her work almost her entire career. i had the pleasure of meeting her on her book signing tour and she’s the sweetest person ever and it was so surreal to tell her i’ve been published in journals now and i have her to thank for getting me to take my poetry seriously when i was 16. :,)
