Lola & the Millionaires: Part One by Kathryn Moon

Book safety, content warnings, and tropes down below.

Lola was falling into an open place in our pack that I’d previously only thought of as comfortable breathing room.

Let me start this by saying that this duet is my favorite reverse harem, and I can’t imagine anything will ever take its place. There’s just something really special about this story and all the characters in it, and I truly don’t get sick of rereading it. There’s six men in this harem, which is a lot. Somehow the author has managed to give all of them their own voice, and I never wonder who’s who. Sure, it hits some of the stereotypes for harems, but I don’t think you could write one without. Matthieu (the oldest MMC) is probably my favorite out of all of the men, and I love his quiet support, his soft and caring nature, and just the way he treats Lola and the other pack members. He’s the ‘head alpha’, but without showing those typical toxic masculinity traits that alpha men often do. Not that any of the others in the books do, but I can go on and on about Matt, lol.

“You’re okay. You’re safe,” he murmured. I might’ve been safe. I definitely wasn’t okay. I was ruined.

Now for the real miracle: I *love* the female main character. I have always easily been annoyed by FMCs to be honest, and this has only been exacerbated by mostly reading MM romance these days. Somehow, Lola is one of those FMCs I keep loving, and she’s such a strong character. She’s flawed and insecure because of her designation (a beta in a world where omegas are coveted above all else), and she has suffered serious trauma in the past. These books are honestly just a beautiful and slow journey working through Lola’s (and the MMCs) problems, while dealing with an external source of angst. It’s beautifully written, emotional, super spicy, and you’ll be able to connect with everyone. Well, *almost* everyone. It is a slow harem build, meaning not everyone becomes sexually involved in the first book, but everyone is present in both books and the slow build of trust and friendship is awesome.

“[…] Not everything needs to be about beta and alpha and omega nonsense,” Matthieu said, echoing my shifting with a little of his own from below. “And you don’t need to be ashamed of wanting material things to go along with emotional affection. We won’t trade one for the other, but you’ll have both if you want. Yes?”

If you couldn’t tell, I really love these books and I’m completely biased at this point, lol. Oh, and there’s plenty of MM action, which only makes it better.
