Re-Coil by J.T. Nicholas
5.0
Interesting concept, well written and I really liked the characters. The world building was well done, I was pulled onto this universe from the first chapter. I loved the added commentary on the sociological impacts of changing bodies (reduction of racism/sexism) but an increase of classism and the psychology challenges of changing bodies or "coils" (gender fluidness, sexual fluidness etc.). I also liked that the author addressed the body dysmorphia issues of changing coils or not being in the right coil. And what feelings you can have when a person you are attracted to 'changes' coils. Overall the story was an interesting combination of Sci-fi, zombie horror and thriller. The action was fast and the pacing kept it fun and engaging. My only real criticism is that at no time did I believe the main characters were truly at risk. I did think there was a chance of them not truly winning, but this only opened up the chance for a sequel, there was a lack of true risk.
