The Au Pair Affair by Tessa Bailey
3.0
I have whiplash. I couldn’t keep track of the back and forth, and mood swings between burgess and tallulah. The first third it was more of a developing sexual tension, and the constant change in inner monologue seemed justified while navigating the boss/employee relationship. But it got tired. In the last third, I was starting to wonder if this was supposed to be angst? If so, it didn’t work. I read Tessa for rom com vibes and filthy talking heroes. While Burgess is the latter, I didn’t feel much of the former. Also - 280lb for a pro hockey player is unrealistic. While jumping on the hockey romance train is fine, if you’re not going to learn more about the game to realistically write about it - including the few descriptions of play…..then don’t.
