A Court of Honey and Ash by Kelly St. Clare, Shannon Mayer
Did not finish book. Stopped at 22%.
A Court of Honey and Ash is yet another book where I didn't connect to the Heroine. The world-building also felt flat, and there was no dedication to solidifying the Heroine – and therefore the reader – into the world; the Heroine had no significant relationships that bound her to her world. Where are the stakes?
What made me DNF the book, however, was the love interest. He's a self-righteous ass, who goes out of his way to bully the Heroine. He's also very aware of her tragic past, so he doesn't get the "ignorant" excuse. I'm really over Heroine's pining for guys who treat them like crap.
