I was really surprised by this read actually. There was so much more depth of emotion and many more difficult topics covered than I was expecting from such a short book.
It had the coziness I’ve come to expect from a Japanese novella, even more so with the setting mostly being a second hand bookshop, and it was a sweet little book. It considers emerging friendships and relationships, family dynamics, the close-knit community that comes from a small town.
The writing was really easy to read and overall it was a nice start to my 2024 reading.
