I really enjoyed this book. Not because the content was pleasant. It talked of people going through amazingly difficult things and rising above them together. Both a mystery and historical fiction, this novel uses the backdrop of WWI, the Spanish Flu, Alcohol Prohibition to explore human resiliency, compassion and loyalty.
