A Fire in the Flesh by Jennifer L. Armentrout

2.0

I was looking forward to this book so much. I loved Ash and Seras' story so much more than Cas and Poppy, and the pacing of the books was great compared to FBAA. Unfortunately, JLA didn't keep to that pacing. The first 4 chapters are really exciting and pick up right where the last book left off. From there up to 65% is so boring. It's literally War of Two Queens over again, but with Ash being in captivity and sera also being caged by Kolis. Sera is ALL in her head, and it's not a pleasant read. I was bored and seriously considered DNFing several times. It's also full of information we know from FBAA, but there are a few new things that we learn. I completely understand that there are things that we know from FBAA that Sera didn't know and needed to learn, I get that, but I felt it was dragged out and extremely repetitive. 65%-90% is a little more exciting, but there are peaks and lulls in it, rather than it being all excitment after most of the book is boring. 90%-100% is all sex with a little info thrown in.
I hate that JLA decided to split Ash and Sera's last book into two. I don't for a second believe that she couldn't fit everything into one book, considering 55% of this book was filler. It's just a money grab on JLAs part stretching it into two books.
Shame she's ruining this series too. Fingers crossed she proves me wrong and the last one is more like the others.
