"People will lie about anything, anytime."

The Lost Ones is a book I've been interested in for a while, and I was happy to receive a copy to review.

I really ended up struggling with this book. I was bored throughout most of it. It's very slow-paced. Every time something would happen that grabbed my interest, the story would quickly shift back to parts that I would skim through.

This book had a tendency to be over-the-top and unbelievable. The main character was magically able to successfully complete any task, including throwing a belt over a banister and safely jumping away from villains. I cannot contain my eye rolling.

Although I enjoyed the short chapters, there was entirely too much going on. I was looking forward to reading the story described in the synopsis, but it was just a side story to a bunch of other little stories. Eventually I didn't care about any of it. There's a lot of random background given about mining companies & other things. It didn't add to my enjoyment of the story, and just frustrated me.

I would have DNFd this, but I had committed to reviewing the second book in the series. I ended up DNFing that one anyway. I wish I had better news, but this one just did not work for me. Thank you to the publisher for sending me these to review.
