How to Pronounce Knife by Souvankham Thammavongsa

I was so impressed with this short story collection. Typically, short stories collections have a bunch of average with a few misses and a few hits. This is an exception to that; these were all marvelous and - even more stunning - they were all so very short. It takes a master to write such deft characters and true stories that are also so very succinct.

This collection looks at the immigrant experience from Laos to Canada. I really enjoyed that because it focused on the small moments in life and feeling poor or uneducated in comparison to those white people around you. The characters are so very relatable with their grit.
