The Anthropocene Reviewed: Essays on a Human-Centered Planet by John Green

5.0

So much of my love for this book comes from my love for John Green and his voice. I'm so happy to read purely him, as opposed to a character created by him, because all of his online content has shown what a wonderful voice and mind he has. The essays themselves varied, but even the ones I didn't like, I couldn't hold it against them. One issue in a few essays is that John establishes a topic, goes on a big philosophical tangent, and then last minute connects that to the OG topic with a sentence and a rating. It was definitely *a thing* that happened, but I can't hold it against the book because it was still perfectly lovely to read. My top 3 were: Googling Strangers, Bonneville Salt Flats, and Plague. I believe this book is best read in small pieces before bed, but that didn't stop me from eventually finishing it on a binge. I absolutely recommend.
