Hell Followed with Us by Andrew Joseph White

3.75? Well this was one hell of a ride.
It took me two whole months to read this book. That's huge for me. And thus the reading experience and feeling towards this book are very odd to me. A mixture of yeah this is a really good book but also I struggled getting through it.
It's an extremely dark, heavy of body horror and torture and a gloomy sad ambiance. Whenever i picked it up, I enjoyed reading it, but also I couldn't handle more than a chapter at a time.
That being said, I felt it was well constructed, the references to derailed christianity was interesting (though i know very little about religion in general, some who know more might be particularly touched), and the main characters were interesting too.
I don't know if it's due to the fact it took me two months to read or something else, but i did feel a little disconnected to all the secondary characters. There were quite a few, and i wanted to love everyone in this LGBTQ+ Center, especially as it felt like a found-family being built, but i just didn't care that much about them...
This review isn't even a review at this point, just a bunch of thoughts on this book which i'll remember as being unlike any other, impressive and surprising on a few points, but difficult to get through and completely connect to.
