(A Beauty and the Beast retelling)
What if Belle's mother cursed the Beast? What did he really do to deserve such vengeance? Would Belle ever be able to remember her own mother?
Beauty and the Beast is the most beloved and closest to my heart fairytale and so it is hard to stay unbiased reviewing one of its retellings. π
The book gives you a more detailed insight about Belle and Beast's parents which was an interesting take on the original story. It has a darker and more mysterious vibe to it and the twists and turns of plot would keep you turning the pages.
I was all for the talking dishes and furniture, the library full of bookish charm, the beast and what not! Some of the events were similar to that of the original Disney fairytale but the writer did not shy away from adding a unique flavour to it. β¨
Unfortunately, the writing style could have been better as it was too wordy and took a while to get used to it. Although some of the scenes were portrayed incredibly like there was this one creepy scene that literally gave me chills and I wasn't expecting to get a horror movie vibe from a fairytale but it was worth it.
All in all, it's an intriguing story with lovable characters. And seriously, why wouldn't you want to read it, it's Beauty and the Beast retelling after all! β€
