Life, the Universe and Everything by Douglas Adams
2.0
To each their own of course, but to me this installment felt a bit too convoluted for my taste. The plot being nonsensical is one thing, the plot being boring is another.
Now, these books are not something you read for the story, but I'm still a bit baffled by how boring I suddenly found everything in a Hitchhiker's book, which is clearly not a sentiment I shared in the previous books.
I'm not sure what to make of it. There were still laughs of course, but I did not enjoy my time with Life, The Universe and Everything...
...it's like this: Douglas Adams is clearly a dude with very interesting ideas, but seemingly nobody expected him to write an "actual book" down in my opinion, so he underperformed. He clearly could write a proper story if he wanted to, but he missed the mark because he'll rather get the next punchline out.
The problem is that this book wasn't that funny. Which renders Adams' supposed sacrifices useless. Oh well, at least it wasn't dull...
