Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo

5.0

This has quickly become one the best series I've read in awhile. I always get I worried when it comes to book two in a series. They have a tendency to be used as bridges and hence fall a little flat for me. But that wasn't the case with Siege and Storm. In fact, I enjoyed it just as much as book one. You know what I love about these books? There's a little bit of everything in them. Magic, suspense, love, betrayal, action, and heroics. And it's all woven together perfectly. Alina finds herself in the middle of darkness and light unable to sort out where she is truly destined to be. She loves Mal but is drawn to the Darkling. Is it the connection between their power that keeps her coming back to him or is it something more? And what about loyal, faithful Mal, who adores Alina? This is one of those ones where I really do care if the good guy wins out or not. Siege and Storm takes us on quite a ride as Alina finds herself face to face with the Darkling and his intense new powers. But Alina's found a power just as intense, if only she can keep it from completely consuming her. Cannot wait to pick up book three of this series.
