The Nine Lives of Rose Napolitano by Donna Freitas
5.0
I loved this book! I think this will resonate really well with a woman who is on the fence about having a child. This is a "Sliding Doors" type of novel where a scene between Rose and her husband Luke over prenatal vitamins is the jumping-off point for nine different lives for Rose Napolitano.
All of the options presented have some commonalities and differences, and I appreciated the structure so much. One of the options that is late-coming (perhaps 90% in) was extremely smart, and I was so taken by it. I really liked how the relationship Rose has with her own mother is explored in a couple of the options, and then I was sucked in by the relationship that was explored more fully in a couple of the options with Rose's father.
5 enthusiastic stars!
I don't think this novel will land as well with women who have a firm belief in having as many children as possible.
