Circe by Madeline Miller

4.0

Reread for book club! I still think The Song of Achilles is the better of Miller’s two novels, but Circe makes for a captivating exploration of the titular character’s story in this gut-wrenching adaptation. Although the pacing lagged in the second half and a few liberties were taken with some peripheral mythological figures, Miller’s character work is veritably electrifying and her prose always strikes me as lush yet concise and severe yet still tender-hearted.
