Die, Vol. 1: Fantasy Heartbreaker by Kieron Gillen
5.0
Holy cow, I haven't been this captivated by a comic in a really long time. Kieron Gillen's Wic+Div follow up is everything. As a young nerd, my worst nightmare was never finding Narnia. The young nerds in this book find Narnia. Narnia destroys them, spits them back into reality, and then comes calling a second time. Gillen's story hits close to home (probably for a lot of people), and Stephanie Hans's art is swoon-worthy in the extreme.
Bonus: maybe the most interesting trans narrative I've ever read.
I think everyone should read this, but it's of particular interest to those who like Seanann McGuire's Wayward Children series, The Magicians by Lev Grossman, Wic+Div (obvs), Rat Queens, The Crimson Empire trilogy by Alex Marshall, Conan the Barbarian, the Elric books by Michael Moorcock, Thomas Covenant, and well Dungeons & Dragons.
