I'm Not Your Pet by Fae Quin

4.0

I would like to thank GRR for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

Ahhhhh this was sooo fun and scrumptious! I am SUCH a fan of Fae Quin and everything she writes always kicks up my vibe a few notches! Unique, exuberant, cuddly, super sexxxxy spice and hearts doing what hearts do best is just soooo...quin-tessential Quin. Hehehe I know what i did and i'm not sorry ;p

SO OFC i enjoyed this sweet romance featuring MY FAVOURITE: precious princess spoiling!!!

because adorable, super-smart-sexy pants Hugo deserved all the loving up you could cram into 400 pages, and pink darling Roark was the dreamiest (iykyk) beau to ever woo a romantic partner with zero language or cultural experience to begin with! OFC my alien babe went hard on learning -for love- and that effort hit me hard! it was NO surprise that Hugo and I both had to take a moment to really let that sink in.

And while this showed how dedicated and striving and sincerely sweet Roark was, at that time i don't think Hugo truly recognized the lengths that someone would go to for him, for his safety, and for his comfort. that he deserved to be on the receiving end of someone wanting to do that for him. That he was important enough. Valued enough for Roark to WANT to know what Hugo had to say about the world around him, his thoughts, dreams and fears. Ahhhh soooo sweet and real!! I'm so here for this energy!

I always have so many feelings whenever i finish reading a Quin romance because it's never only about the spicy spice, but the heartfelt stories of the people doing the falling in love. Loss and loneliness, belonging and self-worth, these are all relatable ways family and social dynamics can emotionally harm children just needing compassion on their journey to adulthood.

Also, this was an alien MM romance, so obviously this was NOT meant to be a handbook for healing childhood trauma. But what it WAS was a saviour to soulmate romance about being found by the swooniest someone who falls first and who would spend the whole book being best boy for his bae! I love that action.

And again, yes, Hugo deserved all the love, and by the end he really did recognize his worth and i loved that for him. and also yes, he gave as good as he got! Well....yk what i mean ;p

This was a super fun, "pretty woman" meets cuddly alien romance, with a touch of trauma-drama and a veeeerrrrryyy lovely HEA! As always, Fae Quin did what she does best and i'm happy to round off the year with another Quin-Win! Lelelel ;p
