I Feel Awful, Thanks by Lara Pickle

emotional hopeful reflective sad medium-paced

3.5

I really appreciated and felt for the journey Joana had to improve her mental health and embrace her emotions. I do love "soft magic" stories, where it's a part of everyday life and a definite metaphor for other things. I ended up giving this a lower rating because... the characters and eventual heft of the story just didn't quite hit for me. The emphasis on the therapy sessions versus what we got to see with Joana's relationships felt unbalanced and some of the dialogue bubbles were hard to follow. I loved the art and look forward to more from this author.
