Once again, Britney King lures me in and keeps me hanging on from the very first sentence. I'll admit that I was a bit confused while reading the first few chapters as I tried to figure out the who and what of the storyline. In most cases, that confusion would be enough to irritate me, but as always with this author, the writing is so thoroughly compelling that I wanted to know more about this place and these people. Even when I didn't completely understand where it was all going, I wanted to, and past experience with King told me we'd get there soon enough. And, of course, we did. When things start moving, they really move. I started this book curled up in my recliner. As the tension rose, so did I, and by three-quarters of the way through, I was sitting on the edge of my seat, telling the family to order pizza for dinner, and ignoring everything else until I made it to the last page. Yes, I'm purposely leaving out story details because I won't give away the book's secrets. Just keep in mind that even if you're a little confused in the beginning, keep pushing forward because it will all come together and make sense soon enough. This story completely messed with my mind and I wouldn't expect anything less from this author. Another twisted and twisty thriller that I won't soon forget.
