Hands Down by Mariana Zapata

5.0

I was completely unable to put this book down, finished the entire thing in one day because if I wasn't reading it I was thinking about reading it. Zac and Bianca's story sucked me in from the start and I loved every second of it. MZ books are truly on a level of their own because I have loved them all so much, and this one was no different!

Zac "Big Texas" Travis was just a lovely reminder of how much I love a good sunshine man. The way that I was personally kicking and screaming when he was texting Bianca as if my delusional ass was being texted? Jail Worthy!!! If he wasn't making me smile he was giving me genuine heart pains when he was sad about how things with Bianca worked out for those ten years. Emotional whiplash really, but I loved it.

Bianca "Little Texas" Brannen was a top MZ female lead for me! She was funny and real, I felt like I was reading about something my friend was doing and it was just great. The little jokes between the two of them sent me into oblivion and the fart attacks had my laughing so hard for no reason. She was just overall amazing and I loved getting to watch her story. As discussed with a friend who is also reading this, Bianca truly is braver than me because the second that Zac did not recognize her at the start of the book I would have BOLTED and pretended I was someone else lmaoo. I also loved her social media presence in this book, I personally have not read a lot of social media influencer characters but Bianca's work was really cool and I loved the stuff she did with Zac and his teammates!
The two of them together truly built such a solid friendship foundation for their romantic relationship to grow off of that I think they would 100% still be together after the epilogue.

My only dislike of this book was his use of the nickname "kiddo". It did not affect my rating but I really could have lived without him calling her that even after he confessed his love. Just weird to me however it was so minimal that this was still a huge 5-star book, just something I wanted to comment on lol. His use of Honey and Darlin' got me GOOD, I was in a chokehold. Especially when he called her darlin' baby and my darlin'. SWOON

THE CAMEOS IN THIS BOOK WERE THE BEST I HAVE EVER READ. It was a given that we would see Aiden and Vanessa with their kids, and I loved every second of their involvement. But let me tell you when a certain Olympic gold skating team walked into the bar they were in dressed as Morticia and Gomez Addams I was mentally in another universe from my scream. I just love the interconnectedness of the MZ universe and this was the best out of all that I have read so far!
