When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead
5.0
2017 re-read: Still so good, and even better since I just re-read [b:A Wrinkle in Time|18131|A Wrinkle in Time (A Wrinkle in Time Quintet, #1)|Madeleine L'Engle|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1329061522s/18131.jpg|948387]. I enjoyed not having to follow the story so closely because I already know what would happen, and I teared up at the end when Miranda is wrapping up the story. Upgrading to 5 stars, oh, yes!

2013: initial read
Would recommend: YES
I really really liked this, but I'm having a hard time describing it. It's about a girl who loves [b:A Wrinkle in Time|18131|A Wrinkle in Time (A Wrinkle in Time Quintet, #1)|Madeleine L'Engle|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1329061522s/18131.jpg|948387], and she's dealing with some changing friendships, and then there's the whole time travel thing. It's not exactly science fiction (at least to my sensibilities), but at times, it's sort of eerie and otherworldly, and I really enjoyed it. My favorite part was the theme that we are all connected, and finding the way you fit in to the connection can make everything else sing.
Okay, so, I gave this 4 stars as a conservative rating because I'm afraid that my deep and abiding love of Madeleine L'Engle is influencing me disproportionately. Otherwise, I would give it FIVE STARS OH YES I LOVED THIS ALL CAPS! It's such a quick read because it's for a younger audience, so I might re-read it before it's due at the library to confirm this rating.
