The City of Stardust by Georgia Summers

adventurous mysterious medium-paced
This story has some interesting concepts, I really liked the Angelic like beings, the fantasy setting that felt European, and the travel across worlds. But for the most part, I feel like the story was showing us glimpses of something that could be incredible to explore, and never went further.

I was definitely confused as to why the villain waited so long and kept giving Violet more time, and some of the time jumps felt jarring. The story established early on that for her own safety, Violet's uncles kept her in the house, but then we switched to her as an adult, working in a cafe with little to no explanation.

Little to no explanation is really the theme of this book, as the story sets up so many questions about Violet's mother, Aleksander's past and the family curse and then proceeds to refuse to answer them. Although I was in the minority I did enjoy the romance, and the story might have befitted from a heavier focus on Violet and Aleksander working together to save Violet.
