A really interesting book that shows the struggles and complexities of grief, lies, poverty, and violence and how neighbors and communities can make it worse or help make it better. But ultimately it's about Jeanie finding out how strong she is and coping with difficult circumstances. It leaves you feeling both sad and hopeful. The authors writing truly is beautiful, impactful and unsettling.
