This book is a great one for young children wanting to learn about the the trans community. It is a quick read for younger kids and introduces Melissa as a young trans kid and her journey to being her true self. While it is a banned book, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this book as it highlights a young child figuring herself out and how to find the support she needs. I hope that all children can see themselves in Melissa's shoes, as we all go through wanting and deserving acceptance for who we truly are. But this allows us to see that many children may not find this acceptance as easily.
