Though I was more than enthusiastic about this series as a teenager, and this story contributed to my journey of exploring my identity as a person, as well as a reader... it was difficult to read at this point in my life. I've been actively working to develop my ability to recognize abusive and manipulative behavior, so seeing this book through that more enlightened lens made it significantly less enjoyable.
