Sleepovers by Jacqueline Wilson
4.0
I absolutely adored it. The book follows five girls—of a club called ABCDE—hosting birthday sleepovers. But Daisy is worried about how her friends will react to her differently abled elder sister.
The book is a great way to show how mean some girls can be, but at the same time, there are good friends by your side. And how, sometimes, you are friends with people you don't want to be friends with! Because let's be honest, everyone has had a Chloe, right?
!It's funny how it resonates with adults as well. We, at times, make friends with people and then realise that we don't really want to be friends with them, or how we come across people who are mean for reasons unknown to us. But at the same time, we always have some good people around who stand by us through thick and thin.
It's a great book to not only read to your kid but also to revisit the similarities of childhood and adulthood. Moreover, it's a perfect book to get you out of a reading slump.
