Last time I read this was back in high school and I didn’t realize the impact of Maya’s story. She is a wordsmith and how she describes things blows my mind that she could word it in a way that I understand exactly what she means. I particularly liked listening to the audiobook because it was Maya herself voicing it and I could listen to her voice for days. Just know there are some trigger warnings before reading around rape.
