The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson

5.0

I just finished the book, and I probably should wait a while and process everything I've read before writing a review... or probably not, so I'm writing one anyway.

This is the second book of a trilogy and I. Am. In. Awe. It's been so long since I've read a story with such detail and a very, very deep plot. Also the characters! They felt so real with colorful personalities and such tangible feelings. *sigh* I think the last one I've read eerily similar to this was my beloved Harry Potter, and I am in shock that I accidentally found something like it in the Mistborn series.

Right off the bat, let me tell you something, this series is heavy on words. I kid you not. Even I who loves to read found it tedious from time to time. I read the first book for about a month, losing and finding interest in all the words (loving the book nonetheless), but despite my initial interest over The Final Empire, I was quite hesitant to delve back into this world because I do not want to spend another month on just one book. But surprise, surprise: I didn't! I actually read 90% of the book in just 2 days. Woah. Is it really that good? Heck yeah, for me it is!!

My feelings are in turmoil as I read the last sentence. I felt like I should have done something to help Vin, Elend, Sazed, and the rest of the crew... which is foolish since they're fictional characters, but that's just how strongly I care about them. Real or not real!! I am anxious, expectant, and excited for the next book. This is far from being over and they CAN'T lose.

Vin, you can do this. You are the Hero of Ages. And with Elend and the others, the sky is the limit.

Get back up. Fight. Survive. Win.
