This is the third Mhairi book in three days, I've read. This one is actually the highest rated by other readers, but the lowest for me. It was still enjoyable and a good time, but I found that you could tell this was one of Mhairi's earlier works. The author's style and structure are present, along with the final act romance and mix of real-life issues to add substance to the story. However, for me, this missed some of the wit and honesty for the later ones. The character chemistry was not quite there. It seemed less grounded and the some of the jokes/comments missed the mark and seemed dated. I think the author was trying too much to be edgy and romance with a difference (the ending), but was too contrived and not a natural wrap up like If I Never Met You and Don't You Forget About Me.
