The Bookish Life of Nina Hill by Abbi Waxman
5.0
4.5⭐️
What a delightful and charming book. The plot twist in the beginning was unexpected, and it was both a cozy and entertaining story. I like the obvious neurodivergent coding of Nina, and I strongly related to her. I think anyone who didn’t enjoy the book probably doesn’t relate to Nina, lol. It made me smile to hear the chapters begin with to do lists, especially because they sound just like mine. I love her scheduled world, and I love that Nina was happy, fulfilled, and supported when she was single. Her love story only added to the fullness and richness of her life. Nina’s character development, as well as the development of those around her, was so well done. I usually am not a big fan of the omnipotent third character narration with a sprinkle of second person, but I thought it was executed well here! The book was witty and made me chuckle many times. I saw this book was recommended by Kat Denings, which is why I rented it. It’s fitting, because it reminded me of the quirkiness of Dollface or Jane the Virgin (Nina often narrates what her cat would be saying). The audiobook was splendid!
It did lag in the 40-60% mark, but it did pick back up!
