I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou
emotional
reflective
slow-paced
4.0
This book is full of stories of Maya Angelou's life
Her stories range from sad to hopeful to funny to heartbreaking, and are all told in a distinctive voice. Stories are told with specific mix of youthful innocence and drama along with mature knowledge.
I did, quite honestly, find the stories a little disconnected and slow to go through, but this book was really powerful, and the end was especially hopeful and beautiful.
PG-13+ For rape and other triggering topics
