So far every book in this series has been amazing and this was no exception - this could actually be my favourite so far. It was very dark, fast paced and full of twists that kept me guessing right until the final page. The writing was excellent and the used of interviews really added to the story. I also loved how quick the pace was and it was a real page turner. The story was engaging and made my heart race! The characters are so good in this series and I feel like I’m actually there solving the case with them: Somer and Everett are such strong female characters, Gislingham is a great detective and I adore Adam. It was especially nice to see more of Adam and Alex - I liked that the case linked back to them and their past. Even though the topics in these books are dark, it’s always enjoyable to follow the characters. The plot in this book was disturbing and at times really difficult to read. It had so many layers and turns that I genuinely had no idea what would happen next. The author went around issues like transphobia and hate crimes in a respectful way. I really enjoyed trying to work out whether there were connections between the girls, between the old case and the new one and coming up with theories about who did what. I definitely did not guess what the reveal would be and I found it shocking! I can’t wait to start the next book!
