The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas

4.0

Thank god for free audiobooks, because even though it took 54 hours to listen to it would have taken me months to read a physical copy. I always feel weird rating classic novels, especially when they hold a lot of significance to people close to me.

I did like this book and it was extremely wordy. I had to pull up the Sparknotes at some points to make sure I was following. Dumas did do that thing where he keeps introducing characters and somehow makes the story fit together like a puzzle, so I will give him that. He did have me on the edge for some parts of the book, trying to figure out what the Count would do to get out of situations, so I do understand why this book is important and significant to people. Plus, who doesn't love a revenge story?
