I enjoyed this and especially the backstory but the villain was pretty one dimensional and a bit cartoonish. I liked the portrayal of the teenage boy and also liked that the two female police officers were not immediately pally but respected each other in the end.

I didn't like all the animal cruelty and children cruelty throughout this book. I understand it was part of the story but I just don't like to read about it. I did read the first book in this series and I think I liked that one too, although I may be wouldn't have continued reading the series if this wasn't the last book.

If you like this kind of thing, I recommend you read the first book before this but if you like that one then I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy this.
