I've waited so long for Onyx Storm, and it turned out to be even better than I could have imagined!
I really enjoyed getting to explore more of the world beyond Basgiath and Aretia. Visiting the isles was fascinating, even though there were moments where it felt a little repetitive. There was a lot of world-building and deeper lore added, particularly around the gods and goddesses, which I thought was really intriguing.
The characters were fantastic. It was amazing to watch Violet's growth as she stepped up and took charge within her squad. Xaden's development, though, was heartbreaking. Seeing him struggle so much only to fall back into his pain was tough. Their relationship is such a beautiful and supportive one, but I do wish there was more variety in their spicy scenes. I guess they'll have to get creative in the next book—thankfully, Violet’s a dream walker!
I also loved getting more of Ridoc—not just his funny side, but also his serious and supportive nature. Rhiannon's transformation into a squad leader was another highlight for me. I'm definitely shipping Garrick and Imogen, as well as Dain and Sloane. I'd love an entire book just about those couples!
It was thrilling to see some of my theories come to life, but there were also new breadcrumbs and easter eggs that have me even more excited for the next book.
This book had the perfect balance of love, fun, heartbreak, and action. While the cliffhanger wasn't quite as devastating as in Iron Flame, it definitely left me with a ton of questions that I can't wait to have answered!
