We all know that royalty books are catnip to me and make it a romance, and you’ve made me a very happy Katie. With PRINCE OF THE PALISADES, Julian Winters has written a cute, funny, and lovable LGBTQIA+ romance with a new royal family and found family that I absolutely adore!
Reading this book felt like a 2000s movie like The Princess Diaries - I see you @ Genovia_Diaries 👀 - but with more of a social impact, which made me love it so much more. Prince Jadon of Îles de la Rêverie is such a fantastic lead character. He’s flawed but learns to grow in who he is, who he wants, and his purpose. His arc throughout the book is excellent. And Jadon comes with snark, heart, and great fashion sense, so you can’t help but root for him.
At his new school, Jadon makes “friends” that he has to figure out if they are his true friends or just princely followers. I really liked how Julian Winters weaved this into the plot and showed different sides of people to help create a fantastic found family for Jadon.
My favorite of the found family is Annika, but it doesn’t count since she is his actual sister. She’s not in a lot, but she has the perfect thing to say when she is!
Read this if you love royalty books with good banter, fantastic characters, and a swoony romance! It made me very happy!
The last line of the book is my favorite, so definitely read it to get that wisdom 🫶🏻
