I love Aldridge's body of work - sweet, queer, middle grade stories with high stakes and his gorgeous watercolor artwork. One of his latest, The Pale Queen, focuses on Agatha, a young woman in a small mountain village who dreams of pursuing her studies and seeing the world beyond. When she's unwittingly drawn into the eye of a local, enticing, possessive fae creature, Agatha has to find her inner strength to do the right thing. I loved this story, and think it would be great for fans of Howl's Moving Castle, Pixar's Luca, and The Thief of Always.
